SHEPHERD HILL FOOTBALL RULES/REGULATIONS
ACADEMICS
Mr. Morway ([email protected]) will be our academic advisor. He will be periodically checking on the student-athletes to make sure they are reaching their academic potential. If you have any questions, please see the Academics section on the Communication Flow Chart.
Football participants must meet the academic requirements of both the MIAA and Shepherd Hill in order to be eligible to compete.
ATTENDANCE
Team members are expected to attend all games, practices, meetings, film sessions and organized team activities. Not attending these events will result in not being eligible to play in games.
1 Unexcused Absence: Player is ineligible for the 1st half of upcoming game (Varsity and JV)
2 or More Unexcused Absence: Player is ineligible for the entire game (Varsity and JV)
All excused absences from practice/team activities must be approved by the Head Coach, preferably prior to the absence. All absences (including as a result of missing school) will be considered unexcused until approved by Head Coach. Unexcused tardies are treated individually at the discretion of the Head Coach. Habitual absence could lead to dismissal from the team.
Students must be present for school in order to be eligible to participate in that day’s practice or game. If the practice or game falls on a Saturday, this attendance rule applies to the preceding Friday. Students are considered absent from school if they arrive after 11:00 AM or get dismissed prior to 11:00 AM without returning. Students serving In-House are considered ineligible for athletics for the day that they serve.
EQUIPMENT PROTOCOL
Team members are responsible for the equipment and clothing issued to them. Issued equipment and clothing must be worn only during scheduled games, practices or other pre-approved football related activities. Equipment issues should be resolved prior to gameday.
It is the responsibility of the player to wash all clothing (issued and personal) in a timely matter.
Players are expected to only wear equipment and clothing issued to THEM. Players will not be allowed to participate in any team activity if they are wearing equipment or clothing issued to another teammate (INCLUDING FRESHMEN), and it will be considered an unexcused absence and treated accordingly. Habitual offenders will face severe consequences.
Team members should be prepared for any type of practice scenario, EVERY day.
Team members will not be allowed to participate in the weight room without sneakers. If a team member is unable to participate due to not having the proper footwear, it will be considered an unexcused absence and treated accordingly.
