Shepherd Hill Football Head Coach History
Chris Lindstrom: 2001-2016
Coach Lindstrom retired after his 16th season as the Head Coach of Shepherd Hill. Since adopting the double-wing offense, Chris brought unprecedented success (96-43 record) to the program, including the 2007 D2 Super Bowl Championship, the 2014 Central Mass District Championship, the 2011 and 2013 SWCL A Championships, and an appearance in the 2012 D2 Super Bowl at Gillette Stadium, as well as a school record 15 consecutive wins in 2007-2008. His 112 wins as Head Coach make him the winningest coach in program history. He played professional throughout the 80s in the NFL with the 49ers and Bucs and collegiately at Boston University where he is a member of their Hall-of-Fame. He and his staff have won three CMCFO Sportsmanship Awards (2010, 2011, 2013). He was named a recipient of the Positive Coaching Alliance's National Double Goal Coach Award in 2014. He was the Head Coach of the 2007 CMass Shrine All-Star team and was the CMass Coaches representative on the 2015 State Shrine Game. Chris is a Phys-Ed teacher at Shepherd Hill.
Leo Biron: 1973-1981, 1985, 1993-2000
Without a doubt, Coach Biron is the "founding father of Shepherd Hill football". Leo was the Head Coach for 18 seasons, over three different time periods, including the inaugural season of 1973. Over that time he amassed a record of 100-73-4, coached the team to three league titles (1977, 1996, 1997), and directed the only undefeated regular-season (2000) in program history. Leo returned to the program from 2005-2007 as Defensive Coordinator, serving an instrumental role in the school's only Super Bowl victory in 2007. He continued to coach the Freshmen Team until 2011. He is in the Bartlett Hall-of-Fame for his outstanding career as a Quarterback and also played at UMass. He was a Phys-Ed teacher and Athletic Director in his time at Shepherd Hill. He retired from teaching in 2001.
John Hickman: 1987-1992
Coach Hickman coached the Rams for six seasons and led the program to its very first Super Bowl appearance in 1987, which was coupled with a Border Conference Championship. He came to Shepherd Hill with a very impressive coaching background, which included Holy Cross, where he served as an Assistant Head Coach and Defensive Coordinator from 1968-1971 and Boston University, where he served as the Offensive Coordinator from 1971-1976 (Where incidentally he coached Chris Lindstrom's brother, Dave, who went on to have a 10 year NFL career most notably with the Kansas City Chiefs). His career as an athlete was equally impressive. John's athletic prowess led to a full athletic scholarship to Arizona State University to play football. Remarkably however, John also participated in basketball. He was selected to the All-Conference team for football in his senor year, and posted a 21-9 record as a pitcher for the baseball team. Upon graduation, John signed a bonus contract to play with the San Francisco Giants, and was assigned to the Rookie League. This experience was short-lived as he was forced into very early retirement due to a back injury. He was inducted into the Pennsylvania Sports Hall of Fame in 2002.
Bob Bradley: 1986
Bob Galante: 1983-1984
Jim Hackenson: 1982
Coach "Hack" served as an assistant coach for many years in a variety of capacities, and was the Head Coach in 1982, which resulted in a Border Conference Title. He is more known for his success as a Girls' Basketball Coach, winning over 500 games, winning multiple league and district titles and multiple state championship appearances. He is the New England Basketball Hall-of-Fame. He taught in the district for many years, including as a Math Teacher at Dudley Middle School.
